The Evolution of Pinnacle Communications

From ITT to Worldcom to Pinnacle

Back in the 80’s, Dave Dorough and Rich Simmons were working together at ITT as technical managers in the hospitality communications division. But then, ITT started selling off its businesses and the hospitality communications division ended up being sold to Worldcom. Unfortunately, Worldcom had to go and implode in the late 80’s, and that meant the hospitality-specific business segments were no more.

But Dave and Rich weren’t about to let that stop them. In December 1990, they started up Pinnacle Communications to meet the needs of the hospitality industry. They got to work installing payphones and call accounting systems in hotels, and then moved on to providing maintenance for Mitel, Hitachi, Siemens, NEC and AT&T phone systems.

Pinnacle Makes Life Easier for Hotels

Back in the 90’s, it was a real hassle for hotels to get all the telecom services they needed. They had to negotiate with up to 10 different providers, and it was a real pain. But Pinnacle was here to help. They adapted to the needs of the hotels and started providing Operator Services, telephone faceplates, and a bunch of other services that made life a lot easier.

One of Pinnacle’s first customers, Bill Mitchell, was so impressed with their vision that he left his job as General Manager of a fancy Washington, D.C. hotel and became Pinnacle’s first VP of Sales and Marketing.

Pinnacle Grows and Evolves

As Pinnacle started to expand outside of the mid-Atlantic market, they kept on evolving and providing all kinds of tech solutions for hotels. They became one of the top dealers of hotel-specific brands, and even became the #2 Hitachi dealer to hospitality in the US, as well as the #1 Mitel dealer for most of the past 15 years.

In 2016, Pinnacle Communications merged with Justin Hannesson and Pinnacle West LLC to become the company we know today. This merger has made Pinnacle one of the most respected brands in the hospitality industry.

Differences

Pinnacle Vs Adobe

When it comes to installation, Premiere Pro has a more complex interface with workspaces that let you customize the layout according to the type of work you’re doing. Pinnacle Studio, on the other hand, splits into four sections and is easier to navigate. Plus, Premiere Pro separates audio and video tracks, while Pinnacle Studio combines them.

When it comes to editing tools, both offer multi-track editing, cut, copy and paste clips, lock and unlock tracks, and more. However, Premiere Pro has a few extra features like 8K exporting, sequence management, clip position, team collaborate, video masking and auto caption generation that Pinnacle Studio doesn’t have. Plus, Premiere Pro lets you adjust the clip’s width or height, which Pinnacle Studio doesn’t offer. Both also have plenty of audio and text tools to enhance your videos.

Pinnacle Vs Corel

When it comes to video editing, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Pinnacle Studio Ultimate and Corel VideoStudio Ultimate are both great options, but they have their differences. Pinnacle Studio Ultimate has more features, but it’s also known to crash more often than Corel VideoStudio Ultimate. So if you’re looking for a reliable program that won’t crash on you, Corel VideoStudio Ultimate is the way to go. But if you’re willing to take the risk for more features, Pinnacle Studio Ultimate might be worth the extra money.
